Sometimes the simplest ideas end up becoming our favorites.
That has certainly been true for our Woodland Whiskers collection.
What started as a fun woodworking project quickly turned into one of the most loved creations coming out of our workshop. There is just something about these little wooden cats that makes people smile.
Maybe it's their expressions.
Maybe it's their personalities.
Or maybe it's because every single one is a little different.
No matter the reason, they've found their way into homes, offices, cabins, bookshelves, and gift collections all across our community.
Where the Woodland Whiskers Began
The Woodland Whiskers started with a simple idea: create something handcrafted, full of character, and impossible to mass produce.
Each cat begins as a piece of wood and a rough idea. From there, every cut, curve, detail, and finish is done by hand. Along the way, something interesting happens.
They start developing personalities.
Some look curious.
Some look grumpy.
Some look mischievous.
Some look like they know a secret they aren't ready to share.
By the time one is finished, it's hard not to feel like it has become its own little character.
That's one of the reasons no two Woodland Whiskers are exactly alike.

Every Woodland Whisker is handcrafted by Freebird, the woodworker behind many of the creations offered through Humble Exception Creations.
Woodworking has been a passion for years, and while there have been many different projects along the way, these cats continue to be among the most requested.
People often ask which one is our favorite.
The truth is, that's almost impossible to answer.
Every time a new one is completed, it seems to take on a personality of its own.
Why We Love Them
In a world full of factory-made products, there is something refreshing about an item that was created one piece at a time.
The grain of the wood is different.
The shape is slightly different.
The expression is different.
The story is different.
That uniqueness is something we never want to lose.
